The experimental work We Are, created by the Dutch artist and architect in training Eva Souren, consists of two parts. We see video’s, recorded in an analogue style on analogue screens. On top of the old fashioned television sets -- relics from another time -- digitally made images are projected. Eva Souren: ‘I play with the concepts analogue and digital. Two different techniques, that both have their own qualities. In We Are I try to bring together those analogue and digital qualities and make them friends.’ In that way she wants to visualize different forms of friendship in an abstract way and in doing so generate a certain energy. Eva Souren: ‘To me We are is all about a unique experience of friendship.’
While still a student at the Academy of Architecture Amsterdam, Eva Souren has managed to exhibit work at Amsterdam Light Festival this year. The Dutch architecture student has a lot of things going on. She is interested in lighting projects, and for a school assignment, created a light projection with patterns that were based on a musical rhythm. Souren works for two small architecture firms alongside her studies and commissioned work.
