After five successful editions of the ‘Illuminade’, Amsterdam Light Festival has decided to do things a little differently this year. For the first time, the land exposition will take place at the Marineterrein Amsterdam, an amazing new location within walking distance from Amsterdam Central Station.
From 14 December until 7 January, this historical place will be illuminated by fifteen light art installation. The land exposition is freely accessible from 5 pm until 10 pm. (On New Year’s Eve, the Marineterrein will close its doors at 8 pm.) You are free to explore the terrain on your own; there is no route that you have to adhere to. If you feel like you might need some direction, there are guided tours available.
To make sure you don’t get thirsty or hungry, visit the Art + Bites greenhouse, one of the foodtrucks, or warm up with a nice cup of mulled wine or hot cocoa.
