Telcosystems & Spatial Media Laboratories
Gideon Kiers, David Kiers and Lucas van der Velden
Gideon Kiers, David Kiers and Lucas van der Velden not only use EYE Filmmuseum in their TESTFILM #4 as a canvas and film strip, but also see the institute as the epitome of cinema and film history. TESTFILM #4 is therefore a tribute to the technological image culture and the history of Dutch experimental film.
Film has undergone enormous technological development in recent years, from analogue film to digital cinema, but what consequences does this progress have? By approaching and 'technologizing' the projection mapping as a technical experiment (by using the carrier and display technology as an instrument) TESTFILM #4 brings the audience a new experience. Among other things, by changing speed, compression and resolution; the use of 'glitch' and other film techniques will seem to disintegrate the image itself, making it possible to experience the medium, as it was never before.
Telcosystems (Gideon Kiers, David Kiers, and Lucas van der Velden) - Gideon, David and Lucas research the relationship between the behaviour of programmed numerical logic and the human perception of this behaviour. This leads to the creation of immersive audio visual installations which are shown through various media and live performances. Their work has been featured in museums and festivals such as Ars Electronica, International Film Festival Rotterdam and the Holland Festival.
