The result is an artwork that, among other things, stems from an exploration of attention and the ancient ritual for making connection. The projection mapping on the old bridge highlights the value of undivided attention between human beings. Nowadays, we are more distracted by our digital technology than ever, which is why the connections between us are crumbling. So how can we give our full attention to the things we consider most important and bridge the gap between ourselves and the world around us?
Mind Bridges invites the children of Amsterdam to create new rituals together that help them to be more mindful of each other. Using 3D cameras, students who defined and performed their own new rituals were digitally captured and created as a bridge that connects them with the city and with all of us. In times of digital distraction, looking out for others is as important as ever.
