No Light Walk, but our light keeps shining

Dear visitor,

The past few months we’ve been working hard to prepare for the ninth edition of our festival. We closely followed the developments and regulations concerning Covid-19. Accordingly, we’ve made adjustments to the shape of the festival; soon it became clear that boat tours aren’t going to happen this year. Unfortunately, we’ve come to a point where we cannot allow groups of people to come together at all anymore. This results in the painful decision to cancel the Light Walk too this year.

The people of Amsterdam will still encounter light art in the city! The light artworks are realized through collaborations with partners, like the City of Amsterdam, the University of Amsterdam, the Province of North-Holland and many others. The artworks will thus mainly be admired by local residents and passers by, however, the stories of Lucas De Man and the light art will enlighten a much broader audience online.

Together with the artists and our partners we’re redirecting all of our energy to this new approach, in order to still be able to enlighten the city during her darkest days.
