Laila Azra

After obtaining a degree in Social and Political Science at the University of Indonesia, Laila Azra (IDN, 1970) moved to Singapore and studied Western abstract painting at the Nangyang School of Fine Art. She fell in love with abstract painting because of the freedom it implies to imagine and dream. Creating both paintings and installations, Azra likes to experiment and applies her abstract, expressionist style to a wide range of media. Her work is exhibited worldwide and is showcased at the Venice Biennial this year.
