WHEN IS THE NEXT OPEN CALL?
The Open Call for Edition 14 (festival 2025-2026) takes place from Friday 1 March 2024 until Sunday 14 April 2024.
WHO CAN PARTICIPATE IN THE OPEN CALL?
Anyone; whether you're a professional light artist or upcoming talent. We encourage creatives with diverse background, gender identities and ethnicities to participate.
HOW DO I SUBMIT AN IDEA?
Go to this page and download the artist briefing. You will receive an email with a submission ID and information on the next steps. We do not accept submission via mail or in other ways.
WHAT ARE THE CRITERIA FOR A CONCEPT?
There are certain criteria your concept needs to meet, such as technical feasibility and connection to the theme. You can download the artist briefing on this page, or via the button below. This briefing contains all the info you need, from criteria tot deadlines.
WHAT IS THE PROCESS?
1. The call for Edition 14 is open from 1 March until 14 April
2. During round 1 the connection with the artist briefing is reviewed
3. If you're selected for round 2, additional technical and financial information is requested
4. Afterwards, 20-25 concepts are selected and the production phase begins
5. In January 2025 the selected artists are invited to Amsterdam for the kick-off days
6. On 27 November 2025 it is showtime!
DO I NEED TO PAY FOR MY SUBMISSION?
No, to ensure everyone is able to participate you do not need to pay for submitting a concept.
WHICH COSTS ARE COVERED?
The production costs of the artworks, travel costs and an artist fee. You can find more information in the artist briefing.
CAN I SUBMIT MULTIPLE CONCEPTS?
Yes, you can. If you would like to receive feedback per concept, you will need to request the artist briefing again, to receive a new submission ID for each submission.
WHEN IS EDITION 14?
Edition 14 takes place from 27 November 2025 until 18 January 2026. Since we produce the majority of the light artworks ourselves, we begin our call well in advance.
CAN I STILL JOIN EDITION 13 (2024-2025)?
No, the Open Call has already taken place and the festival team and artists are currently busy with the preparations.
