On this page you can find the most frequently asked questions about the Open Call of Amsterdam Light Festival.

WHEN IS THE NEXT OPEN CALL?

More information about the call for Edition 16 (2027-2028) will follow at the end of February/beginning of March. Please keep an eye out on this page. The Open Call for Edition 15 (2026-2027) is closed.

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE IN THE OPEN CALL?

Anyone can! Whether you're part of a professional art studio, or an upcoming talent; we are curious to see your idea. We encourage creatives from diverse backgrounds, gender identities and ethnicities to participate. 

HOW DO I SUBMIT AN IDEA OR ARTWORK?

When the call is open, the first step is to request the artist briefing. Here you can find all information you need for your submission. You will also receive an email with a submission ID and information on the next steps. We do not accept submissions via email or via other ways.

WHAT ARE THE SUBMISSION CRITERIA?

There are several criteria your submission should adhere to, such as feasibility and originality. These can be found in the artist briefing, available when the call has opened.

WHICH COSTS ARE COVERED?

The production costs of the artworks, travel costs and an artist fee. You can find more information in the artist briefing.

CAN I SUBMIT MULTIPLE CONCEPTS?

Yes, you can. If you would like to receive feedback per concept, you will need to request the artist briefing again, to receive a new submission ID for each submission.
