In her talk, Inger Leemans explores the role of scent in everyday culture andexplains how we can become more ‘nose-wise’. Naturally, we will also engage insome smelling ourselves!

Inger Leemans is a Professor of Cultural History at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam andhead of NL-Lab, a research group focused on Dutch culture and identity (KNAW Humanities Cluster). Her research covers a range of topics, including the history ofemotions and scent.

The Antonius Choir has performed in the Nieuwmarkt neighbourhoord for over twenty years. What once started as a parent choir from a local primary school, evolved under the guidance of conductor Patricio Amezcua Zilli to a fully fledged choir. Especially for Amsterdam Light Festival they have made a charming selection of polyphonic Christmas songs about peace, love and understanding.
