It's the Christmas holidays
Which means that the lights will be on daily between 5 and 11 p.m. and the interactive artworks are accessible every day. There is one exception: on 31 December the lights are off.

Discover the charm of Amsterdam Light Festival this holiday season. Enjoy a route of unique light artworks (21 by water, 24 by land) that appeals to both the young, and the young at heart. The lights are on every day from 5 to 11 p.m. and the interactive artworks can be viewed until 9 p.m. Only on December 31, when there is already enough going on in the city, our festival is closed and the lights are off.

Amsterdam Light Festival can be experienced in a unique way from the iconic canals. There are many different cruise experiences to choose from: from a classic canal tour boat, to an open boat, and from a historic boat with 3-course dinner, to cruising your own boat. TAKE A WALK
Tag your family members along and go for a walk before or after your Christmas dinner to catch some fresh air, while admiring the illuminated canals of Amsterdam. You can download our festival app that contains the route map and all descriptions of the artworks. Or join a walking tour and let the guide tell you all about the art. The route is approximately 7.5 km long and can be enjoyed in its entirety or in sections. The route is accessible for wheelchairs or people with walking difficulties, but be aware that the city centre of Amsterdam is historic and there are many bridges.
