Today, 21 December, is the longest night of the year. That is why we will put a candle in front of our window, to make a statement against child poverty. Will you join us? Take a picture and use the hashtag #meisjemetdezwavelstokjes to show that no child should be left in the dark.

'Het meisje met de zwavelstokjes' is a campaign by Company New Heroes against child poverty. Did you know that 1 in 5 children in Amsterdam grows up in poverty? Company New Heroes has initiated the campaign to raise awareness for this topic. As partner, we participate with a light artwork called 'Meisje met het Zwavelstokje' (designed by Studio Aldo Brinkhoff). In a series of workshops 1000 primary school students were told about child poverty and what they can do to fight it. The chilrden made a contribution to the light installation, which is now on show during Edition #10 as part of the route.
