Putting light art on the map

Did you know that light art can be found all over Amsterdam? In the context of celebrating ten years of light art, we have put together all permanent light artworks in Amsterdam into one map!

The upcoming winter we will celebrate ten years of Amsterdam Light Festival. Fortunately, you can enjoy light art in the city year-round! Bridges, squares and streets across the city are illuminated by various light artworks, which we have now collected and put together into one map. This map contains the exact locations, pictures and artwork descriptions (with thanks to the City of Amsterdam). Who are you going to explore them with?

Every light artwork influences the way its surroundings are perceived. Some artworks act as meeting places, while others tell the stories of the people who live in the neighbourhood. Dark, unpleasant alleyways and tunnels are transformed into immersive experiences - that’s what we like to call the power of light (art).

In the upcoming years more light artworks will be placed around Amsterdam, which will of course be added to the map. Have you discovered a light artwork that’s missing in our overview? Let us know by sending an email to info@amsterdamlightfestival.com!
