As of today our artists and technical crew have begun with the build-up of the light artworks! Did you know that most of the construction takes place via water?
Build-up over water
The iconic canals of Amsterdam act as the backdrop of our light artworks. The artworks are placed on the quay sides and bridges along the water, and sometimes they even stand in the water itself. Our technical crew therefore makes use of 100% electrical boats to ensure the build-up and maintenance of the artowks is as efficient and sustainable as possible.
From concept to artwork
Many of the light artworks are created especially for the festival. The artists are closely involved in the build-up and often come and help out themselves during construction. Check out some snapshots of our artists hard at work below.
