Since 2012, Amsterdam Light Festival has organized 8 exhibitions and co-created more than 260 artworks with artists from all over the world. Did you know that a total of 32 marriage proposals took place during the festival? And that 426 volunteers participated? Learn more about the festival!
Art
From the first edition of the festival we've created light art together with artists worldwide. In co-creation with technicians and our curators, we offer both professionals and new talent a stage during the festival. From the first edition of the festival we've created 250 works of art.

Artists
With the open call we challenge artists from all over the world to be inspired by a theme. From edition #1, 210 artists participated in the festival. From Japan to Canada, they represented more than 42 nationalities in total.

Working Method
From the open call on November 1 to the closing of the festival; in total, preparation for an edition takes about 15 months. The route is put together, the artworks selected and developed into 'showtime'.
Education
Since the start, 6100 students have participated in the festival! For example, we have given 828 workshops in schools and we offer students of the Breitner Academy a platform.
Programming
In addition to the exhibition, there is plenty to do during the festival. From lectures, activities, artist talks and workshops. With our partners, we seek deepening and bring people together.
