The rapid changes in our lives mean that our homes, villages and cities need constant care, repair and sometimes a complete redesign. Amsterdammers and visitors alike, all relate to the frustration of spotting these yellow detour signs on our desired paths. Follow "A" for Dam. Follow "B" for Central Station. And so on, and so on. A temporary inconvenience that can really test our patience. Tom Biddulph transforms these signs into a mantra for Amsterdam: that self-care can also be applied to the city itself. And after 750 years, the city of Amsterdam is strong, beautiful and functional, because of the works these signs represent. But it's never finished. It's living and growing, just like us.
