Contrary to other major cities, where cars might dominate the early hours and the end of the working day, rush hour in Amsterdam consists of a swarm of bikes each taking their own path to reach their destination. This ritual is something very unique to our city. Visitors to Amsterdam are inspired, and often frightened, by the organized chaos on our streets. Made of over 40 bike wheels which swirl and turn, OSSO's Rush Hour resembles a massive clock, with the aura and the pressure of arriving on time. Yet, in that enduring pace of movement, we find a quiet peace in this work. For outsiders, Amsterdam’s rush hour seems like a wild mess, but when you are in it, somehow all these moving parts find harmony. OSSO draws us into that peaceful harmony and reminds us that even though we may take different journeys, we create something beautiful everyday with the sum of all the parts.
