Like train tracks, lines of light run on either side of the canal walls. We are now right over the Amsterdam’s metro network. Did you know that there were huge protests against the construction of the metro lines in the seventies? This was because it required the demolition of perfectly good houses, which were then occupied by people from the area. The activists’ slogan was: “geen buizen, maar huizen” (no tubes, but homes). But the metro came regardless. The full story will be published soon.
