From renowned artists to fresh talent: this year, 27 artworks created by 22 artists will shine their light on the theme Rituals.

THE SELECTION

We proudly present to you the 22 artists of Edition 13! The selection consists of a diverse group of artists, from all over the world. From artwork concept, to opening; each light artwork takes about 15 months of preparation. Read more about the artists below and admire the artworks from 28 November until 19 January in real life.

Javier Riera
The contemporary work of Javier Riera (ES, 1964) is based on geometric light projections, which are projected onto woods and landscapes.

Julian Opie
Julian Opie (UK, 1958) studied at Goldsmiths School of Art. Opie lives and works in London. His art has been exhibited in countless museums, all over the world.

Wilhelmusvlug
Wilhelmusvlug (NL, 1962) is a contemporary artist. He studied at Gerrit Rietveld Academy. The last 15 years, his focus has shifted to monumental light art and video art installation.

ACKM Studio
ACKM Studio is established by Aneri Mehta (IN, 1991) and Khushali Chawda (IN, 1991). At ACKM they create captivating immersive experiences that surpass boundaries.

Vibhor Sogani
Vibhor Sogani (IN, 1967) is one of India’s most prominent creative professionals; he has left his mark on the field of light art and art installations.

Cédric le Borgne
Cédric Le Borgne (FR, 1972) lives in Toulouse. He works with reality and from reality. Le Borgne seeks to integrate his work with movement, time and space.

Pim Drinkenburg
Pim Drinkenburg (NL, 1962) studied photography, photonics and electronics and had a photo studio in Amsterdam for years. His work combines form and function with light.

Kumquat Lab
Brothers Tom (FR, 1992) and Sébastien Guillen (FR, 1997) build evocative light art in the public space, which brings people together and evokes shared memories.

Tom Biddulph
Tom Biddulph (UK, 1991) is visual artist, originally from Manchester and currently living in Amsterdam. He works with multiple mediums and tries to look slightly past reality.

Abdo El Moudawar
Abdo El Moudawar (LB, 1978) is multidisciplinary artist and designer. He is and autodidactic artist, mainly in the field of portrait sketching and painting.

Gali May Lucas
Gali May Lucas (UK, 1992) graduated as graphic designer from Falmouth University in Cornwall. She works as associate creative director and makes personal work on the side.

OSSO
OSSO is an Amsterdam-based studio established by artist and designer Florian Hollander (NL, 1986). Together with Benjamin Doerig (CH, 1989) he creates light objects at the intersection of art and design.

Jun Ong
Jun Ong (MY, 1988) is an artist based in Kuala Lumpur. Trained as an architect, he explores how the manipulation of artificial light affects our experience of form and environment.

Jeroen Alexander Meijer
Jeroen Alexander Meijer (NL, 1993) is an interdisciplinary mindscape artist who uses psychology, philosophy and cognitive science to design interactive experiences.

Dean Hutton AKA Goldendean
Dean Hutton, also known as Goldendean (ZA, 1976), loves to stir things up. They work at the intersection of trans-media visual culture, performance and community action.

Soyoun Kim
Soyoun Kim (SK, 1988) is storyteller and designer. He explores what time and society demands of him, based on his optimistic vision and multidisciplinary design approach. 

Vendel & De Wolf
Dutch artists Paul Vendel (NL, 1964) and Sandra de Wolf (NL, 1966) have been working together and separately as Vendel & De Wolf for 32 years.

Flo Arnold
Flo Arnold (FR, 1976) lives and works between Morocco and France. Her artworks have a relationship to space, current and metaphorical, linking the past and future.

Edwin Baruch
Edwin Baruch's (US, 1989) work and experience varies from furniture, interior and home design, to retail, public and community-based design projects.

Fabian Hupfauf & Adam Fierman
Fabian Hupfauf (DE, 1982) and Adam Fierman (US, 1989) have been a duo since 2018, based in Amsterdam. Their work is often in connection with their personal past.

Studio Vertigo
Lucy McDonnell (UK, 1974) and Stephen Newby (UK, 1969) established Studio Vertigo to find an outlet of using light as a means of creative expression.

Arnout Meijer
Arnout Meijer (NL, 1988) investigates contemporary culture. He views and questions the systems that make up and change the way we perceive things.

Sergey Kim
Sergey Kim (US, 1986) is an artist and creative technologist. He combines his technical expertise with a passion for light art and innovation.
