Editie 12
The multicoloured light installations of Herman Kuijer (NL, 1953) have their own place in the world of Dutch art and design. They cannot be grouped under one name. Sometimes they resemble moving paintings, autonomous artworks, other times they serve a functional purpose. They are often created for a specific location and seem to have both a visual and functional meaning. In all works, the interaction between light and colour plays an important role. The interaction is never present in an ostentatious way, but relates subtly, almost as if holding back, to the surrounding architecture and activities.
