The sun rises on tomorrow, marking the start of a new day.
Since the beginning of time, the sun has shaped our daily rhythm and guided life’s natural flow. But this electric sun by Studio Zenisk (in collaboration with Lørenskog Municipality) asks us to pause and reflect on the use of light around us.
Using a low-tech approach, The Sun is made from more than 800 glowing bulbs. The intensity of each bulb can be controlled to produce dynamic patterns that mimic solar activity. When fully lit, the bulbs shine a crisp, radiating the brightness of daylight. As they dim, they cast a deep, golden glow, evoking the warmth we crave in winter.
Zenisk's concept of legacy is rooted in our shared relationship with the Sun. It shines on all of us equally: a source of life, awe, and connection. We worship it, depend on it, love it. But today, that relationship is shifting. The Sun’s heat also reminds us of our vulnerability, and how delicate the balance of life on Earth truly is.
Both beacon and mirror, The Sun casts light on the challenges we face and the innovations that could guide us toward a more sustainable future.
