Frequently Asked Questions: Getting Here

Read more about how to get to Amsterdam Light Festival here.

What is the best way to get to Amsterdam Light Festival?

By public transport! Stops with close proximity to the route are: Amsterdam Central Station and Waterlooplein.

By bicycle is also a great way to get there. There are plenty of bicycle stalls and parking spots along the route.

Which public transport spots are best?

Many cruises leave from the Central Station area, so that is a good place to start (train, tram, metro, bus). This is also a good starting point for your walk, as well as Waterlooplein (tram, metro), which is close to our festival hub and information points.

GVB TRAVEL APP

Are there car parks?

We discourage visitors to come to Amsterdam by care. If you do decide to travel by car, you can check out and overview of P+R options on the website of the City of Amsterdam: click here.

Is the route wheelchair accessible?

In theory it is, but do take into account that the route goes through the historical city centre of Amsterdam, with uneven pavement and bridges

Are all boats wheelchair accessible?

No, not all of them are. Blue Boat Company is; contact them before booking and they will arrange something for you (+312 067 91 370).

Where does the route begin?

As a cultural foundation we place light art in the public space to connect and enrich the visitors and residents of the city. By booking a cruise or by downloading our festival app, you can get access to the route, all stories and your support our cause.

Are there toilets on the route?

We are unable to facilitate this ourselves, but you can check out this page on the website of the City of Amsterdam for an overview of public toilets in Amsterdam.

Are there any restaurants on the route?

Yes, from hotels to cafes and restaurants; there are plenty of spots along the route to warm up. Next to that, from 14 December until 7 January our festival hub in de Hoftuin is opened, where Dignita serves hot drinks and bites and you can find even more light art there.
