Experience the open-air exhibition "Disrupt!" from the Amsterdam waters and visit one of the many light art activities during the eighth edition of Amsterdam Light Festival! From 28 November 2019 to 19 January 2020 Amsterdam will again be the international stage for everything to do with light art.
With disruption we often think of conflicts, chaos or danger. But it can also give a positive and sometimes essential impetus to change - think for example of the impact of the bitcoin and the #MeToo movement. Artists from home and abroad give their interpretation of disruption and use light in a unique way to be disruptive and give us new impulses.
In addition to the exhibition, there is much on offer during the festival. Together with our partners, we organise numerous activities related to light art such as walking events, exhibitions, concerts and film screenings.
Since Edition #6, we yearly cast a bright spotlight on an invited artist as guest of honour of the festival. He or she develops an artwork for the exhibition and a special Limited Edition, a series of smaller copies that can be purchased and contribute to the realisation of the large artwork. Who will follow in the footsteps of Ai Weiwei and Jeroen Henneman? Stay tuned: we will announce this year's guest of honour soon!
